{"id":5468,"date":"2019-12-02T11:29:50","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T16:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stchrismi.org\/?page_id=5468"},"modified":"2020-02-10T13:36:22","modified_gmt":"2020-02-10T18:36:22","slug":"smallchurchcommunites-questions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stchrismi.org\/home\/smallchurchcommunites-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"SCC Frequently Asked Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;SCC Frequently Asked Questions&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h1|font_size:60|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1575304136619{background-color: #0a0a0a !important;}&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1581359776812{border-radius: 4px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>What is a Small Church Community (SCC)?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2013 A Small Church Community is a gathering of parish adults who read the upcoming Sunday Gospel and share their faith in the Good News with each other to prepare for the Eucharist on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>How many people are in a typical SCC?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2013Group sizes vary, from 5 up to 12 people. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>How many SCC\u2019s are there at St. Christopher Parish right now?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2013We currently have 15 SCC\u2019s operating at this time.\u00a0 There is at least one group operating on every day of the week, except for Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>How often do SCC\u2019s meet?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2013It depends on the SCC, but most meet every other week.\u00a0 Some meet weekly or might increase to weekly during Lent or Advent.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>Do SCC\u2019s meet all year long?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2013Again, this depends on the SCC.\u00a0 Some meet all year, some take the summer off.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Can I join an SCC and just come when it fits my schedule?<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Preferably no.\u00a0 Attendance is a huge factor in building trust within\u00a0 the group, so the ideal situation is to make a commitment to come as often as the SCC<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>Do I have to know the Bible really well to join an SCC?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u2013No.\u00a0 At each meeting and SCC will read and share with each other about the Gospel for the upcoming week.\u00a0 This is not a Bible study group.\u00a0 It is adults coming together to prepare themselves for the upcoming Sunday Mass and to share their day-to-day experience of Christ and the Gospel in their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt;\"><em><strong>I\u2019m not big on \u201csharing\u201d.
